This award - presented by the international multidisciplinary Society
for Gestalt Theory and its Applications (GTA)- is named in honor of
our late honorary chairman Wolfgang Metzger who was one of the most eminent
exponents of the second generation of the Berlin school of Gestalt theory.
To qualify for this award applicants had to submit a scientific paper (in German
or English language) which contributes to research or application on basis of
Gestalt theory in the natural sciences, the humanities, the social sciences,
or the economic sciences; e.g. the paper could deal with a subject from psychology,
medicine, architecture, or any other field of research or application based
on Gestalt theory.
Applicants were invited to submit either master theses or theses or papers written
specifically for this award.
The papers winning the Wolfgang Metzger Award 1999 and the 2nd price have been
published in the journal Gestalt
Theory (vol. 21, 2/99) in an article version. The winners have presented
their papers at the 11th
Scientific Convention of the GTA (March 11-14, 1999, University of Graz
/ Austria).
