gestalt theory – journal
Gestalt Theory - Online Journal
Since 1979, the international journal Gestalt Theory has offered an unusual program away from well-trodden paths: It stands for scientific research and application practices that do not exclude the human being.
Renowned authors from various fields publish in it, who understand the human being and their environment as more than and something different from the sum of their parts. In this context, wholeness is not misused as a vague buzzword for simply asserted but misunderstood connections, but understood as a mandate for precise research work. In response to the trend towards increasing specialization and dissection into disconnected details, Gestalt Theory consciously opposes multidisciplinarity and critical synthesis. It publishes holistic-systemic, phenomenological, and experimental works from psychology and psychotherapy, pedagogy, philosophy, sociology, economics, art, music and linguistics, medicine, and various other humanities and natural sciences, in both German and English. Since 2012, Gestalt Theory has been published as an open-access journal, initially by Wolfgang Krammer Verlag in Vienna, and since 2017 by De Gruyter.
